Gamifying Scam Awareness & Prevention

Overview

In an era of increasingly sophisticated digital scams, Bitlab collaborated with M&C Saatchi to develop Jangan Kena Scam, a first-of-its-kind interactive website for the Association of Banks in Malaysia. Designed to educate the Malaysian public on various scam tactics and prevention methods, this initiative leverages gamification to create an engaging and informative learning experience. Additionally, Bitlab provides managed cloud services on Azure to ensure the platform can handle high traffic volumes effectively.

The Challenge

With the rising number of financial scams targeting individuals in Malaysia, there was an urgent need to enhance public awareness in an engaging and interactive manner. Traditional awareness campaigns often struggle to capture user attention, leading to low retention rates. The project required a scalable, high-performance solution that could educate users effectively while managing large spikes in web traffic.

The Solution

Bitlab developed Jangan Kena Scam, an interactive web-based platform that integrates gamification elements to improve user engagement. The solution was designed to educate users intuitively and immersively, making learning about scams more effective.

Key Features:

  • Interactive Educational Games: Users experience real-life scam scenarios and learn how to avoid them through gamified content.
  • Comprehensive Scam Awareness Resources: The platform provides detailed insights into different scam tactics, helping users recognize and prevent fraudulent schemes.
  • Managed Cloud Services on Azure: Ensures seamless performance and uptime, even during high-traffic periods.
  • Mobile-Friendly & Accessible Design: Optimized for a wide range of devices, ensuring accessibility for users across Malaysia.

The Outcome

Since its launch, Jangan Kena Scam has significantly enhanced scam awareness among Malaysians:

  • Higher Engagement & Retention: Gamification elements have increased user participation, leading to better information retention.

  • Nationwide Awareness & Education: The platform has successfully reached thousands of users, empowering them with the knowledge to recognize and prevent scams.
  • Recognition as a Key Digital Initiative: The project has positioned the Association of Banks in Malaysia as a proactive leader in digital financial education.
